West Windsor Oil Tank Help
The state of New Jersey is offering up to $3,000 in grants to help you upgrade your oil tank. These grants often cover the cost of replacing a non-leaking underground tank.

Get Me To The Park, Safely
New "Walk" and "Don't Walk" lights at the corner of Route 571 and Slayback Drive, should facilitate a smoother crossing to the Community Park and Water Park. Crosswalks are expected to be painted shortly.

More Affordable Housing Units Needed
The Council on Affordable Housing has changed its guideliness from one affordable housing unit for each eight new homes to one for every four new homes built. This requirement will force West Windsor to do more to meet the obligation. The council has also required more units based on hotel space....

New Housing to Impact Schools
The West Windsor Gardens housing project may impact the WWP Regional School system by adding up to 130 kids to the enrollment. This is in addition to a projected 70 more coming from the Estates at Princeton Junction.
Adding to the uncertainty, is the question of whether or not the Transit Village redevelopment moves forward.

School Costs Rising
Due to rising fuel costs, the district is anticipating transportation bids to come in significantly higher than last year. In addition to the final phase of the Estates at Princeton Junction adding more students, there is also rental housing (West Windsor Gardens) in the planning stages for Clarksville Road.
Budget deliberations are ongoing.

Reverse Commuting?
Township developer Steve Goldin is pushing his plan to build a five story office building to attract New York businesses and the workers that would commute to work here from New York City. He owns 25 acres on Washington Road in the 350 acre redevelopment zone.

Contaminated Fill Used at Construction Site
West Windsor Township Council is considering an ordinance that would require developers to test any fill headed for township properties. The ordinance is aimed at preventing situations like the one that occurred at the site off of Southfield Road and Route 571, where the developer contiminated the soil with fill laden with PCBs and other toxic materials. Planned tenants for the development include a daycare center and drug store, but construction has been put on hold because of the contaminated fill.

Corn for Charity
The Weidel Realtors office of West Windsor recently distributed sweet corn to patrons of the Southfield Shopping Center. Donations were accepted for the New Jersey Cancer Institute and they gratefully received over $350. The corn came from Weidel Realtors owner Ric Weidel's farm. Thanks to all who participated.
